St. Bedes Episcopal Church is excited to be partnering with the Kitsap Humane Society in October for our annual “Blessing of the Animals” services, which will include special blessings for the homeless animals at the shelter this year. The community is invited to participate by bringing their pets for blessings to either St. Bedes or to the Kitsap Humane Society.  Donations for the benefit of the Kitsap Humane Society are graciously welcomed.  St. Bedes is encouraging local churches to join together by collecting donations in support of the Kitsap Humane Society during the month of October.

Port Orchard, WA – On Sunday, October 5th, St. Bedes Episcopal Church will be celebrating their annual “Blessing of the Animals” to commemorate the feast of St. Francis of Assisi.  St. Francis, a 12th century friar, founded the order commonly known as the Franciscans, is the patron saint of animals, birds and the environment; and is recognized for his passion for all living creatures – great and small.

Rev. Mike Morrissey will be blessing pets during the 8:00am, 9:30am and 11:15am services at St. Bedes, which is located at 1578 Lider Road SE off of Bethel Burley Road in Port Orchard.  In addition to providing special blessings for a variety of pets, St. Bede’s will be collecting donations for the benefit of the Kitsap Humane Society. The public is invited to participate.

Rev. Morrissey will also be available at the Kitsap Humane Society at 1:30pm-4:00pm on Sunday, October 5th for a special Blessing of the Animals at the shelter located at 9167 Dickey Road NW in Silverdale.  The community is also invited to bring pets for a blessing with treats for the pets and fun for the family at the shelter.

The Kitsap Humane Society is a non-profit charitable organization, commemorating its 100th anniversary dedicated to serving our community.   It is through the kindness and generosity of our community’s donations that provide funding for the Kitsap Humane Society’s operations.
