St. Bede’s Financial Health
By Joe McGuire- Treasurer
In January of this year, our congregation passed a budget that reflected a
$9,400 deficit. At the time, we were asked to prayerfully consider
increasing pledge or regular giving amounts to cover the shortfall. The
following is a mid-year report of our status in this matter.
6
Plate & Pledge* July YTD
(Actual)
Annual
(Projected)
Actual/Projection $ 87,400 $ 149,700
Budget $ 86,000 $ 147,400
Difference $ 1,400 $ 2,300
* Includes amounts pledged to the Vicar's Discretionary Fund
As you can see, our Plate & Pledge has increased by $1,400 year-to-date
and is projected to be at $2,300 for the year. This provides for a 1.6 %
increase over budgeted amounts; however, the increase only meets $2,300
of the projected $9,400 deficit!
Many of you are thinking: Wow, I don’t have the extra cash to put in the
plate every week. I don’t know where our congregation is going to get an
additional $7,100! Well, I do.
There are at least two sources of future financial growth. First, this status
report may remind those of us who intended to increase our pledge or
regular giving but forgot. Second is through growth. Growth will happen
through ministry, having a comfortable place to worship and a welcoming
atmosphere. These are areas where all of us, whether financially well off,
struggling to make ends meet, or in the middle can contribute to God’s
work. ---------------------------
On Sunday, Aug. 10th ,
we commissioned four
more young people to the
St. Bede Acolyte Guild.
Audrey, Jonah, Jacob and
Josh.
Their advisor Conrad Plyler
sponsored them, and Fr.
Mike presented an acolyte
cross to each of them.
(Since this is also posted on the internet, last names of children
are not listed.)
