The Feast and Season of Epiphany PDF Print E-mail

Epiphany is a Christian feast day celebrating the "shining forth" or revelation of God in human form
in the person of Jesus Christ. The Feast of the Epiphany falls on January 6. This day
commemorates the visitation of the Magi to the child Jesus. This visit is used as a vehicle to
proclaim his manifestation to the Gentiles. Epiphany falls on the last day of the Twelve
Days of Christmas. The season continues to Ash Wednesday. The Sunday lessons emphasize the
revelation of The Christ to the world. (Adoration of the Magi by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo,

17th century (Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo, Ohio) )
