Formation at St. Bede's
In Our Formation Activities, We try to Answer:
Formation is the lifelong process and practice of being formed for our Christian vocation. It might have begun for us as children in Church School or as an adult grappling with questions of belief. We are all constantly – often unconsciously – being formed and shaped by our communities, our environment, and the world around us.
At St. Bede's, we believe that people are spiritual beings and that we can grow more fully into the people that God created us to be through study, practice, and community. We offer opportunities for spiritual development for Adults and Children.
Adults: We offer seasonal Wednesday Night programming where we eat, learn and pray.
Each week on Wednesday morning at 11:00 am, we share in Bible Study (via Zoom) with time for prayers. We read and discuss the Bible readings for the following Sunday. When conditions allow, we will return to celebrating the Eucharist on Wednesdays mornings at 11:00 am in the Parish Hall, followed by our Bible Study. Please contact the church via phone or email to be included on email chain!
Children: At St. Bede's we try to answer: How do we attend to the spiritual needs of children and youth, develop the Christian Life in families, and find roles and experiences that bridge young lives in contemporary communities with the values, practices, and visions demonstrated in the Bible and in the Lives of Great Christian Witnesses, young and old, in every generation?
Presently, we provide Godly Play activities at 9:45 am for children in the downstairs of church. Before the Communion portion of the service begins, the children come upstairs to join their parents for the rest of the service.
- How do we prepare and equip ourselves to serve others effectively?
- How do we grow in our Faith?
- How do we strengthen St. Bede’s?
- How do we represent the Episcopal Tradition of the balance between our local church and the worldwide Communion?
- How can individuals, acting according to their conscience, make a difference in their world?
- How can our church, acting as a committed community, make a difference in the our world?
